Update from School Council Executive

Sunday, April 15, 2012

Dear Parents,

This is a follow-up to our letter to the Rockcliffe Park Public School community that was posted here on April 10, 2012. If you have not read that letter, please click here. We posted updates on April 12th and 13th – again, if you have not read those messages, please click here.

Members of the School Council Executive are scheduling a meeting with officials from the Ottawa Carleton District School Board tomorrow, Monday, April 16, to discuss the financial situation, including amounts owing to creditors and what will be required for programs to continue to the end of the school year.

We have requested a meeting with the administration of the Bettye Hyde Cooperative Nursery School to provide them with up-to-date information.

The School Council Executive is committed to maintaining continuity of services for the remainder of the 2011-12 school year (including finding ways to address creditors and debts owing). We need forward-looking solutions to repair the trust relationships among parents, volunteers, and service providers if the Rockcliffe Park Public School community is to maintain the vibrant school spirit of volunteerism and parent involvement in the school, so that we can continue to support and enrich the experience of our children as students at RPPS.

There will be a special meeting of School Council on Tuesday, April 17th, at 7pm at the school. All parents are welcome to attend. We are working to arrange free childcare. There will be more information posted here in advance of the meeting.

The draft minutes from last week's School Council meeting have been posted for your information – please click here view them.
