Message from School Council Executive

Thursday, April 12, 2012

This is a follow-up to our letter to the Rockcliffe Park Public School community that was posted here on April 10, 2012.  If you have not read that letter, please click here.

After meeting to further discuss debts and possible available resources, we have decided that filing for bankruptcy is not an option.

We are in the process of submitting a loan proposal to the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.  Other sources of funds include:

  • Book Fair revenue; and

  • Unspent money that was allocated in the October 2011 School Council budget meeting and already provided to the school. (This money is from the proceeds of the 2011 Book Fair).

Our intention is to:

  • pay Bettye Hyde Cooperative Nursery School (the provider of the Homework Club Program for Grades 3-6) in full by their deadline to ensure continuation of the after-school program through the end of June;

  • continue School Council administered programs (i.e., milk and pizza) without disruption;

  • ensure the Grade 6 trip proceeds as planned; and

  • pay all additional creditors in full.

In order to pay back the money borrowed, we are considering a number of options and value your continued input in this process.  An update will be provided soon.
